Linea Exagon BY SANMARCO

EXAGON is the new collection from the SanMarco brand, which represents a unique in the history of terracotta for the interior. EXAGON is the result of a design process that starts from a  refined  yet complex  combination  of  two  natural  and ancient  materials:  terracotta and  glass.  The  first  material, solid, earthy and opaque and the other diaphanous, light, delicate and transparent. Two materials that complement each other, creating a unique harmony in the interior spaces originating from the refined combination that gives light, warmth and colour, a system of rare expressive potential, distinguished by an absolute originality and a real unique- ness compared to contemporary proposals.

XAGON is a design invention that in the shape of the perfect regular hexagon is in balance between different historical moments; if on the one hand the volumetric modules of the large terracotta tiles (with different material thickness to give vibration and movement to the composition) draw inspiration from the centuries old architectural tradition (ex- ample among all the beautiful Renaissance studies by Paolo Uccello and Donato Bramante) and by some expressive experiments of modernity (just think of the three-dimensional claddings of certain architectures or the beautiful modular ceramics of Nino Caruso in the seventies), the small glass slabs are the result of research,  material and technological, which has its roots in centuries-old mosaic tradition, of which the Byzantines in Ravenna were progenitors and great masters.

The successful dialogue between craftsmanship and high industrial technicality, so relevant and characterizing for the history of Made in Italy, finds in this collection a new formula with which reveal itself; moreover, the combination of two formats and the alternation of materials in an infinite number of possible colour combinations, allows an unprecedented and exemplary design freedom that is expressed both in the relationship between flat and in relief geometries and in the nature of the material, now opaque and compact, now transparent and inconsistent.

The play of shadows brought from the surfaces of the terracotta slab, given  by  the  incidence  of light on the oblique surfaces, produces an effect of architectural depth and an absolutely new and unusual light vibration for  cladding materials, generating  an  innovative  decorative  intention  of  the  interior spaces  .EXAGON  is  available  in five colours for both terracotta and glass tiles: Bianco di Carrara, Nero Lavico, Oro Brillante,  Rosa del Deserto, Cortèn.

A particularly innovative colour range, in line with  the  needs  of  contemporary living and designed to allow infinite  combinations  of  colours, playing not only on colours but with the different material varieties of clay and glass. EXAGON is the contemporary concept of the widespread use of terracotta combined with glass in internal housing.

The subtle consistency of the material makes it possible to lay freely and unusual coating geometries  close  to  the  formal results of mosaic and free deco- ration, which makes the tiles particularly usable, to give exclusivity to the internal environments of houses, hotels, shops,  museums, offices and places general public. In this  way Terreal Italia brings the terracotta and glass cladding   into the contemporary world, consistent with the most modern aesthetic and functional needs.
